You Asked For It: Easy (Mostly) Cotton Dresses

Quite a few of you have inquired about chic and breathable everyday dresses, so I took the challenge and found a bunch of good ones (all are either 100% cotton or some kind of natural blend). There’s a pick for every mood, and each piece here can switch from a flip-flop kind of situation to something a little more polished. Take this cool loose shirt dress from Cos, that you can wear any which way, maybe with a good belt or that new favorite bag of mine and these fun slides.

This Vince number kind of looks like two pieces and would dress up really nicely.

Gap’s sweet striped wrap dress has a feminine A-line shape and sleeves that can go a little longer if you so desire.

I love the irregular indigo dots here.

Cos’ cool tee dress is a great punchy shade and has a slight ’70s artist feel.

This safari style is very Lauren Hutton (you can also switch out the belt for something like this).

Here’s a an easy-yet-polished sundress with sweet buttons down the back.

Eileen Fisher’s long henley is a nice mix of silk and cotton and would also look great belted with this.

Here is a fun and classic awning stripe that I think would be perfect with some espadrilles like these.

I love a good black dress in summer and this one would be especially great with silver jewelry.

This one looks super thin (in a good way) and would also make a great beach cover-up.

  1. Great selection! I’m finding more and more that a floaty cotton dress is what I’m turning to each steamy morning to feel both pulled together and comfortable.
