Sweaters with a Kick

I am usually all about some good simple everyday knits, like my favorite Quince V-neck, that is on maximum rotation enough that I need a back-up. But the winter is long, and I’m craving something a little more fun with my practicality. So I bring you some warm pieces with some oomph, like this cute striped cardigan from Madewell that is sure to brighten any old thing you might throw on (and how cool does it look with the slouchy houndstooth pants?)

Leave it to the sartorial anti-depressant that is Kule to come up with this super lively animal print with a fun Rasta vibe.

J. Crew’s otherwise classic Breton number gets a little more exciting when the stripes are hot pink (plus, it’s cashmere and on sale!)

Here’s a sweet Nordic version with fun pink accents.

Another winner from Madewell: This cool color block pullover with simple mock-neck styling.

Topshop’s fair isle is like a cool pilgrim shirt-meets-practical cardigan.

The electric shade of pink here is what makes this piece so appealing.

Space dye yarn gives this one a slight ’70s vibe.

Alex Mill’s preppie cardigan feels like the perfect vintage find (minus the moth ball smell).

Mango’s  simple oatmeal crewneck has chic puffed shoulders which feel very classic À Detacher (oh how I miss it!). p.s. I love the charcoal, too.

  1. Was thisclose to ordering the pants pictured with the first sweater (even the inseam was right!) – but then I noticed mention of the dreaded front pleats….I loved that style years (and years) ago but am pretty darn sure they wouldn’t look anywhere near as good on me at this point. Sigh.
