It’s A Great Time for Linen

I always talk about everything being suitable for all-year, from white jeans to classic straw totes, but this breezy fabric really is meant for warmer climes. It’s crisp, timeless, breathable and chic, and for me, conjures up images of Diane Keaton in summer menswear and my mom in the ’70s. Plus, every year there is a lot to choose from! Mango’s printed wrap dress is just the thing to make you feel like you made some kind of effort, even though all you really need to do is throw it on.

I just love these tailored cropped pants! Really perfect the way they’re shown, but also add a plain tee or tank and flip flops or Birks and you’ve just elevated your weekend.

Old Navy’s over-size blazer reminds me of something I had years ago and wore into the ground (i.e. it’s really good). And with the sale it’s practically free!

Black linen can get totally dressed up if need be, and J. Crew’s easy dress can take you from beach to dinner in a flash.

Here’s a cute jumpsuit that pretty much does whatever a sundress can (except the easy access for peeing part).

Here’s another chic and easy pair of pants from Cos that are as effortless as sweats, but of course way chicer.

This sweet wrap top from Ralph Lauren would be good over a plain black slip dress or with those white pants, above.

Mango’s safari dress has cool slouchy sleeves and makes me think of ’70s YSL.

A classic button-down feels easy and breezy when it’s linen — and the inevitable wrinkles make it even cooler.

H&M’s pleated trousers are a nice semi-tailored alternative to your regular army pants.

This tee is so good I want it in every color! But the blue is exactly what I would want to wear with blue or black jeans.

These Alex Mill shorts are so classically ’70s and are just calling out for a plain ribbed tank and Greek sandals.

Here’s a cool, more fitted blazer that could almost pass for chambray.

  1. Ooo! I love linen and the fact that it’s a summertime thing kind of makes it even more special – like birthday cake. That ON blazer is bringing back all of the memories of my 90’s uniform: Oversized blazer, white tee and jeans. Perfection!
