It happens to me every fall — I remember those inspiring ads from the late ’80s and early ’90s, starring Clotilde and Isabelle Townsend in classic rich sweaters and tweeds and cool mix of preppy standards, Western wear and Native American accessories and get obsessed all over again. I’ve also recently dusted off my old concho belts (here’s an amazing selection from Vicki Turbeville) and can’t wait to pair them with jeans, cashmere sweaters and button downs (just like my dapper dad used to). I’ve been hankering for a classic Polo oxford like this, that reminds me of my cool friend Sian back in high school, who wore them with Ray Ban Wayfarers, metallic flats and Hawaiian skirts for the ultimate in preppy punk (check out I Want to Be Her! for a full description!)
Here’s a chic and easy bracelet with a slight equestrian feel that would work alone, with a watch or a bunch of other bracelets. No one interprets vintage like Ralph, and this pretty 1940’s-style dress is a perfect example. Doll it up or grunge it down, depending on your mood.
I love how they’ve updated a classic engineer boot with a good heel and a more refined shape — would be great with that ’40’s dress, too.
This chic herringbone blazer is made of a nice silk blend that makes it more fluid.
A patchwork bandana scarf is a fun take on the American classic, and is perfect for right now.
These twill cargo pants look like real deal-vintage and are on big sale.
Heeled fisherman sandals are a great transitional shoes and would be extra cool with ankle socks.
A plaid ruffle top evokes a Victorian western wear vibe.
Such a fantastic tooled leather bag that looks like a mint vintage find. And just the right size to hold the necessities.
I am a sucker for the little embroidered polo logo, so it’s no surprise that I am all over these cute jeans — and that longhorn stitching on the back pocket is pretty fab too.
My husband got some boots like these a few years ago at the RRL store and I was mad jealous — so happy they’re now making them for women — yay!
A short little trench is great for right now and later in the spring, to chic up just about anything in your closet.
