Crushing on Isabelle Huppert

I’ve been obsessing about this photo of the 66 year-old French film icon ever since I saw it on my friend Christine’s private Pinterest board. With that disheveled glamour and natural hair and makeup, she’s definitely the poster child for not getting dowdy after 50. Her outfit is just too easy to copy and she looks way cooler than most millennials, just sayin.

Her satin blazer has a subtle striped texture, and this one has tiny polka dots and light padding, so you can wear it as your outer jacket in early spring and fall.
The jeans are so no-nonsense, no frayed hems, no anything “fashion”. Here’s a classic pair with a similar vibe.
She makes Converse look cooler than anyone I’ve ever seen.
The Hermes Collier de Chien cuff is the one nod to Parisian chic.
And now I am obsessing over getting a new pair of Ray Ban Wayfarers, because after seeing this, how could you not?!

  1. I swear I practically wore this exact outfit to see bands in the Late 1970s and early 1980s

    – the converse were high tops, the black blazer was from a thrift shop, and the cuff was studded, the Rayban”s were the same and the hair was teased to look like Exene Cervanka”s or left in my Chrissie Hynde shag-

Isabelle Huppert still looks cooler than I ever did -lol

  2. I have loved her ever since Madame Bovary! She is awesome!

These are probably my favorite posts: when you take a photo of a woman with great style and break it down into the elements. Brilliant!

  3. In the late 70’s i high school I worked at a indie movie theatre. When they showed The Lacemaker I snuck into the back to watch it over and over. I have been crushing on her ever since! She’s incredible. Thanks for this post.

  4. She is looking WAY cool but let’s not forget to give credit to the photographer. Great composition in that photo!

  5. Isabelle Huppert is a chic Frenchwoman, who lives in a country and culture that supports, admires and respects older woman. I just returned from a 2 week trip to Paris and the older woman there are beautiful and elegant. Not trying to be 30 again, embracing their life experience and beauty, in a truly authentic manner. Thanks for this inspiring post!

  6. Love love love. Thank you thank you And you found perfect versions of all of it, of COURSE! I have to get those jeans immediately.

  7. She is one of my favorite actors. She’s always interesting to watch on screen, and looks damned good off-screen!

  8. Just what I needed to see. My early 20’s style will still work for me! I am in fear of looking matronly as I am close to 60.

  9. Just in case anyone is still checking this thread, would you consider the skinny 501 to be a Mom jean? I usually stay as far away as possible from the Mom jean but I love the look of these, if I can get my hands on them.
