Best of The Week: 2/5/21

I was going to post a different coat today (stay tuned) but then I remembered a reader named Ann who recently moved to Seattle asking me for some non-normcore rain gear suggestions. Then I stumbled upon this great plaid water-repellent coat that has a dandy menswear vibe and is completely adorable, right?Since my feet have a hard time staying not numb when it’s below 32 degrees, I treated myself to these cute shearling-lined classics from none other than L.L. Bean.

We had one of those long Bic gizmos for candles and other hard-to-reach things that require fire. But it takes butane which is very hard to find these days for some reason. So three stores later, I went online and found this genius lighter that’s completely rechargeable. I am obsessed and can’t stop firing up the candles!

I love my Baggu bags and this cute new strawberry one is just too good.

I’ve been relying a lot on Hairstory’s Undressed lately because it really does zhuzh up the hair in-between shampoos.

And I rediscovered these Nili Lotan Paris pants that have been taking a back seat to my usual jeans. They’re chic and comfortable enough to wear at the desk all day long, and look great with so many different types of tops and footwear. In fact, I just bought the Eggshell to wear with a camel sweater like here and white tees and Birks all summer.

I adore my new readers that have just a slight 80s vibe without feeling over-the-top. Plus they’re only twenty bucks!

I am so intrigued by this cashmere and silk plaid scarf because it’s classic with a twist, and I love all things Chan Luu.

  1. I am weirdly afraid of those Bic lighters and have been seeing favorable mention of rechargeable ones pop up all over the place. Yours tipped me over the edge. Now I’ll just need to remember to keep it charged!

  2. I absolutely love Hair Story! I will admit it took some fiddling to get it right, basically rinsing the living daylights out of your hair. I have very fine hair which I haven’t been pleased with so Hair Story has been a God send.

    1. Same here – fine hair and a convert to New Wash and use Undressed too! Never thought I’d use conditioner instead of shampoo to wash my thin, flat hair – it’s bizarre but magical.

    2. Agreed! I have wavy/curly hair ( Thanks, menopause!) and Hair Story Hair Balm is my frizz buster.

  3. Hi to Ann in Seattle from another Ann in Seattle! I was born and raised here, though. I run a bit cold so LOVE that raincoat and am putting it in my cart, but do swear by the Aritzia down parkas this time of year – warm and totally waterproof with huge hoods!
