Best of The Week: 12/11/20

As I was perusing the Cos site (new sale stuff here), I came across this dramatic-yet-practical “down” scarf shawl thingie, which is actually animal-friendly and filled with poly. I think I might just rock it around the house during zoom meetings and drape it around my shoulders while watching TV (currently the Queen’s Gambit — so good). Happy Friday everyone — and if you celebrate Hanukkah, Happy that too! See you next week. xx

I always love a good don’t-get-dirty spray for white sneakers and light suede boots and this one feels more modern than the usual (water based, odorless and colorless, repellent free etc. not to mention the chic packaging!)

My friend Anne and I were just discussing how we’re feeling the preppy vibe this season, and I am all about a ’70s version. While I know Annie Hall is all about Diane Keaton’s wardrobe, let’s appreciate these Alex Mill cords which are so perfectly old-school-male-college professor-meets-Alvy Singer!

Every year around this time I whip out this Balsam Fir Incense, which makes me feel like I’m in a log cabin in the woods instead of an apartment in downtown Manhattan.

I’ve been thinking about these cold-weather docs with a warm and fuzzy lining that would make cold winter days a little more easy on the eyes and toes.

I was so happy to rediscover this J. Crew boys’ cashmere sweater that I bought last year (don’t you just love shopping your closet?).

Here are some really pretty little freshwater pearl hoops (now 30% off $22!) that remind me a lot of the Catbird ones I’ve been eyeing all year.

And last but so not least may I present you with my new favorite parka from Fjalraven. It’s super warm, just ever so slightly Euro-retro, and has a giant hood and fun yellow details. Plus, it looks cool over just about anything.

  1. What size do you order in the J. Crew boys’ cashmere, Andrea? According to the size chart my height and weight would make me a 14 or XL, but I don’t like long sweaters (18-20″ is my platonic ideal) or big, baggy ones. And I think getting the sleeve length long enough when ordering children’s sizes is tricky.
