Best of The Week: 11/20/20

Today I am excited to bring you this chic and simple cashmere sweater that is neither too bulky or nor thin, and comes in a nice array of colors. I am leaning toward this pretty blue, which would make a perfect monochromatic look with your favorite jeans. And get this — it’s only $50. Happy Friday, everyone!

Back in the early ’90s, my friend Anne and I bought some cool dangly earrings at the newsstand on MacDougal Street, that made us feel as glamorous as Carole Bouquet.  They were these exact style but in silver, and the gold plate really does take them up a notch!

I was happy to find these classic Maryam Nassir Zadeh sandals on sale (the deal ends on Wednesday). The black patent is perfect for now (I would throw on some woolly socks and wear them with rolled-up jeans ), and you will thank me once spring comes!

After reading about Carla Bruni Sarkozy’s beauty routine in The New York Times, I (and I’m sure thousands of other women) quickly ordered the Erborian CC Cream that she swears by, It comes out of the tube white and then adjusts to your skin tone, kind of like a mood ring for the face. I got the Dore, which is slightly golden, and needless to say, I am thrilled how it makes my skin look more even and glowy without feeling covered up. Thank you, Carla!

I’ve been searching on Etsy for the perfect vintage tie-neck silk blouse, until I stumbled on this perfect specimen that fits in a very ’70s way — just right in the shoulders — and comes in 11 shades (but I love the white, black and caramel best). This cool quilted vegan bag reminds me a lot of an old À Detacher one that I am still kicking myself for not buying. Plus, this one is under $25!

I’ve also been wanting some classic pleated pants and these cute cropped ones would definitely satisfy the craving. I would wear them all the time with clogs or Chelsea boots now, and maybe those MNZ sandals with bare feet way later.

I’ve been bumming a little about my slightly crepe-y arm skin, so I thought I would give Gold Bond Ultimate Skin Therapy Lotion a try. I’ve only been using it for a few days, but I swear I already see a difference!

I love Nili Lotan’s cool skinny snake scarf that you can throw over any button-down or tie around your neck with a tee, for instant Patti Smith appeal.

    1. No but Steve Madden and UGG have similar but not identical versions (this is quite a popular style right now it seems!)

  1. I can attest to the gorgeousness of the Quince $50 cashmere crew. I have one in black and another in camel (which I’m wearing now btw). I sized up one for a roomier fit and they are perfect. If you have a HONEY add-on, you’ll get 5% off! Totally worth getting.

  2. I love the bag…I think it is an homage to the Fendi Cassette bag. I recently started using Kinship’s Self Reflect. It is a mineral sunscreen with a little bit of glow (not glitter). It works in a range of skintones and gives just enough something to make me less deathly looking for a Zoom meeting or grocery run. And it feels more like self care than cosmetics do at the moment…

  3. I just started using Gold Bond neck and chest firming cream! Did I see it here? I don’t know how I found it but so far I like the results.

  4. I read the article from Carla Bruni last week and I have found and ordered a version of the black soap online and I can testify for any product from Le Poche Rosay, they are fantastic. Target carries the entire line in select stores or online from Amazon of course. Thanks for the cashmere suggestion, they have it in a v neck too, I am getting it in white! I have not seen white cashmere anywhere! I love your blog, bought so many things based on your suggestions, keep em coming.

  5. Oh man, I wish I’d known about those Quince sweaters sooner! I recently bought the $75 Nadaam cashmere sweater in an oatmeal color and it’s currently shedding all over my black pants.
