It’s that time again when the air seems to instantly suck every last drop of moisture from your hands, leaving them rough and crepey with brittle nails and ratty cuticles. Basically, they need a little extra love, so I asked a few of the the usual suspects along with some new friends how they keep things pretty.

Christine Ganeaux, owner, Ganeaux:  Christian Dior Abricot Nail Cream. “I keep this on my nightstand — I love the scent and classic packaging, and it keeps my nails and cuticles looking great without a manicure.”
Brenda Halkias, Head of Consumer Communications, eBayDeborah Lippmann Cuticle Oil “In the winter months, my cuticles are not so cute. This oil keeps them healthy and I’m convinced it extends the life of my manicure.”
April Johnson, Designer, Alasdair: Elizabeth W Lavender Hand Cream. “It’s not sticky, it smells amazing and natural and it’s the best for chapped winter hands.”
Me: Dr. Hauschka Neem Nail Oil. It makes my nails look super healthy and shiny and I love the convenient pen packaging.

Theresa DiScianni, Matta: Chanel Rouge Rubis Nail Color. “Classic red always brightens up winter hands and reminds me of all things “Spanish.”  My mother always used to wear it.”
Ivka Adam, CMO, Iconery: The Honest Company Organic Healing Balm.”For hand care at night (and I use it on my lips) I swear by Honest Company Healing Balm. It’s all natural — you can’t beat the list of ingredients.”
Lori Leven, owner, Love, Adorned: Cirque Holographic Nail Color. “Long lasting, glamorous and much easier to get off than glitter.”
Hollis Salzman Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve “It makes my dry wintry hands feel like new.”
Me again: I am suddenly wanting to exfoliate my hands (I got the idea from Theresa, above) And L’Occitane’s One Minute Hand Scrub fits the bill.
Khadijah Kesten, co-owner, Ina. “Weleda Pomegranate Hand Cream “The best — very moisturizing and it smells great.”

  1. I love Brenda’s comment:”…my cuticles are not so cute!” I can relate. I use several of these products, and even layer for extra goodness. The scrub idea really works, too, and then your hands feel like buttah.

  2. I like Caudalie’s hand and nail cream. It’s not greasy, and rubbing it in to hands and nails before sleeping keeps my hands presentable, even in midwestern winters.

  3. I love Weleda’s Skin Food so now I am excited to try the pomegranate cream…and Dr. Hauschka anything is great.

I have to say that Jao brand goe oil before bed is something I’m hooked on…another bit of summer in the middle of the dry days of December…

  4. Caudalie hand & nail cream! And you’ve reminded m–I bought a hand scrub over the summer (from Posh) and never used it, I’ll have to dig it out. My mother-in-law gave me one once and I really liked it.
