It’s almost “back-to-school,” and nothing takes the end-of-summer sting away like some fresh new clothes, am I right? So here is my early short list of goodies. First up: Something plaid, and this very Isabel Maranty short wool shacket is a little bit grunge, a little bit collegiate and just the thing to take any summery piece, like a floral dress seamlessly into the next season.
A cool new boot: While they are not exactly a wild bargain, these shirred leather booties remind me so much of the Michel Perry ones I used to covet in the late ’90s, that added a little punk-sexy to everything.
Anything corduroy: Nothing says crisp fall weather like a good pair of cords, and these are such a happy Autumn shade. The Canvas and Atlantic Blue are pretty great too.
A puff-sleeved sweater: This one from H&M is that spot-on camel that makes it look a lot more expensive than it is.
A classic army jacket: Madewell’s slightly oversized version makes the perfect transition piece.
A fun new bag: A.P.C.’s colorful snake-print crossbody is classic enough, but also pure fun.
An easy, throw-on dress: This chic turtleneck number can really take you anywhere. Wear it with bare legs now, and tights and boots later.
A cozy sweater: This pretty lapis cardigan would work over dresses and button-downs with trousers and jeans.
Classic dark jeans: Old-school Levi’s are just calling out for sweaters, boots and little jackets.
