Wanted: Boots With a Kick

Today, as I can barely see out my window through all that blowing snow, and the only thing you can really wear on your feet (if you dare head out) is a pair of fugly foul-weather clunkers, I think back to a couple of weeks ago when my friend Karen said she really wanted “a fun pair of boots — you know, just something to make jeans and a tee more exciting?!” So I promised I would find a bunch, all at reasonable prices. Karen ended up with these stage-worthy Bowie-esque ones — now on sale — and I’m guessing they’re putting a little spring in her step right now (she lives in L.A., so there you go).

Mango’s snake-embossed kitten heels are just fun enough, but still appropriate for work with some nice trousers or something. p.s. they’re now under $40.
A sexy red sock boot would look really cute with cropped jeans or a girly dress.

And you can’t go wrong with a gold cowboy-syle ankle boot to add a little glamour to just about anything.
Here’s a great nod to new wave with a Vans vibe. You can’t really get much more fun than that!

Throw on a pair with studs and a cone heel with a good pair of black jeans and a military shirt, et voilà– you get classic Emmanuelle Alt.
Velvet “celestial” boots can be super boho-dressy when you wear them with something lacy and super femme, or just rock-star cool with jeans.

I have those Modern Vice boots in black with red and metallic accents and they are such a fun look with a cropped jumpsuit or with said jeans, tee, and blazer. Liking those python ones as well as the Vans inspired Jeffrey Campbells.

    Velvet boots…so gorgeous, so impractical…I don’t care! ❤️

I have a styling question about the Modern Vice booties. I bought them online, and just got them last night. Here’s the thing you can’t really tell unless you’re paying close attention. The stars are all cutouts! So, I’m wondering how to style them. I guess a no-brainer would be with tights. But how about when you wear jeans? Black knee-high hose, I guess? Thoughts??

Why knee high? I would just wear cute velvet or sparkly or plain black socks! xx
