Top 5: Tamara Schlesinger, Photographer

Tamara and I have been leading parallel lives for a long time — first of all, she was born in the village in NYC (me too), she’s worked with my dear old friend Sharon, a stylist, on lots of projects for Cookie Magazine and has also moved from  Brooklyn up to Western Massachusetts and now knows my best friend Anne, who actually suggested her for a Top 5. “She always looks so laid back and effortlessly cool — I always feel like such a dork when I run into her,” says Anne (and she’s no slouch). So sit back, relax, and shop Tamara’s super inspiring picks!

 1. APC Nevada skirt “I like that it’s A-line and still kind of straight and 70’s style. It’s part of my uniform.”
2.The Magic of Believing “Even though the book is a little dated, the message is very strong, I put it next to my bed for inspiration, and to look at its beautiful cover.”
3. Worishofer sandals “I like that they are orthopedic/utilitarian and chic at the same time. I know they have been around a long time, but I really like the simplicity and the not-too-high wedge and they look nice with painted toes.”
4. Myhavtorn Facial Oil “My friend Erica lived in Sweden for a few months, and liked this line she found in a local health food store so much that she brought it to the US. It’s lightly orange from the Sea Buckthorn oil and gives a slightly warm glow. The facialist Julia March uses it and Lanchin in Brooklyn too.”

5. Polaroid 600 I found one of these at a thrift store and then bought some film, I like the magic of not knowing how it’s going to come out.”
