Top 5: Heidi Kelso, President, HK Media Group/Founder, Lido

Okay, so let me start by saying I really don’t understand how this woman does what she does (and this is coming from someone who is the poster child for multi-tasking), and all while looking like she just stepped off some exotic beach. When we were introduced by my friend Karen, she suggested Heidi set up a booth at a trunk show I was hosting, because she had a great store in Greenport, New York. Well, when Heidi arrived and set up her area, it was beautifully staged and bananas-professional and totally made you want to buy everything in it, so I delved a little deeper. Turns out that not only does she own this fantastic shop filled with luxe-bohemian things from all of her world travels (from High Atlas rugs and flowy dresses to giant floor pillows), but she has had a whole career in event production. Like major events, like how about the New Year’s Eve Ball Dropping in Times Square, two Super Bowls and the VH-1 Vogue Fashion Awards, to name just a few (I don’t have enough room here to list them all!). She used to work for huge companies like VH-1, where she was a multi-camera producer and executive, and now has her own firm. Anyway, Heidi is also fun and cool and truly down-to-earth. I just knew she’d have some good stuff to share with us, so here it is!

 1.  Nili Lotan Ena jean “My favorite jeans of the moment. They were sold out everywhere but now they are back. They’re pricey but I realized it makes more sense to spend a bit more and buy fewer things overall.”
2. Weleda Almond Facial Oil “Not as popular as Skin Food but that’s too sticky for me. This smells incredible and it’s subtle. It says it’s to remove eye makeup but I slather it all over my face. It’s great for sensitive skin, and is really moisturizing.”
3. Lido Byron Sundress “In the summer I like day-to-night dressing. Lido started with the idea of packing something that could be dressed up or down and this carries through for me most days when I don’t want to spend a lot of time figuring out what to wear. This can be worn to the beach or out to dinner.”
4. Kama Hair Cleanser  “I found this Ayurvedic brand  in Goa and fell in love with the hair products. The pachouli sounds like it could be a major turnoff but all their products smell incredible and I like the way it makes my hair look more than anything else I’ve tried. Whenever I’m in India I stock up.”

5. Marho Fringe Slides “When I started Lido I found I was shopping less in the States and leaning toward more obscure finds I discovered while traveling. Lately, I’ve been gravitating toward Aussie designers because they do beach so well. I bought these sandals this part winter when I was heading to India for a while and road tested them the whole trip. Super comfortable and the price is great. I have black but they now come in several colors.”
