Beauty Roundup: Secrets to Instant Skin Perfection

Bottega Veneta/SS 2013

I asked a bunch of friends what they use when they need to look amazing fast (like for an event or important meeting,) where they end up feeling as great and glow-y as model Bette Franke looks here. Here’s what I got.

Me: January Labs Power Peel Exfoliant is my lifesaver! Whenever I need a little something something, I slather this stuff on. It burns at first, and dries into a hard film, but when you take it off, you look all fresh and flushed and perfectly rosy.
Anne Johnston Albert, creative director/designer Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation “This stuff covers any red, and blemishes, and evens out my skin like nothing else—makes the T-zone matte (no need for powder). I paint it on only where needed — around my nose, forehead and mouth — and I look like Snow White in seconds”

Coralie Langston Jones, design publicist: Bakel Thio-C Revitalizing Glowing Face Serum “I have never experienced an overnight turnaround with my skin like I did with this. There was such a visible difference, it was astonishing! My skin looked fresher, smoother, and more even-toned. Fine lines no longer existed. I would use it if I have some important meetings scheduled, or when I want to look my best. Black magic in a bottle: it’s pricey, but it delivers on its promise.”
Me again! I have no idea why this would work, Rodial’s Glam Balm over makeup really does give my skin a healthy, feel-good sheen.

Christina Kelly, Writer: Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. “I like the texture and smell and the way it plumps out fine lines and wrinkles. I usually get compliments when I use it.”
Marla Aaron, jeweler:  Biologique Recherche P50. “It stinks, it stings, it works. It’s the only thing I’d run into a burning building for.”

Squirrelly Milhorn, Manager, Ina, SohoDr Gross Original Formula Glow Pads — regular now, extra strength in the summer. They reduce pores and give a nice glow. They just make me feel really good!”
Amanda Scoledes, Producer: SK-11 Facial Treatment Mask. “Makes you look like you took a 15 minute power nap!”

    Marla Aron, LOL!
My secret: put a little baking soda into a creamy cleanser each morning and VERY gently smooth over face.
Also: Trader Joe’s Coconut Oil as a make-up remover. It helps keep your delicate eye area hydrated.
In a pinch at a pal’s house and you forgot your products? Sneak into the kitchen { I suggest doing this very late into the night. Try not to giggle} take the olive oil into the bathroom and schmear it on your face. Remove with a warm, damp washcloth.
*remember to return the olive oil to the kitchen!

Sorry but anything that burns or stings is not a great idea…in my opinion. A sonic exfoliating brush like the Clarisonic Mia used with a creamy cleanser every AM prevents skin from ever looking dry, dull, flaky, stressed out or tired in the first place.

      Hi Lois,

Respectfully, most people don’t EVER disinfect their Clarisonic and it can lead to nasty bacteria build-up and infection. Sometimes a little sting { free, free set them free..sorry, I HAD to} is ok but mostly if you are under the care of a professional Dermatologist or Esthetician.

You had me at the title! My skin is going nuts after having moved to a different climate/foods etc… I love the Beauty Flash Balm and lately I’ve been using Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal by Ren which is helping a lot!

You had me at the perfectly glowing, rosy skin of Bette Franke!!! How about just making a product that knocks 30 years off? No? Then I’ll take the plumping and hydrating properties of Rodial and the Dr. Gross peel pads, which are safe for my sensitive skin. (Andrea, do you know who did the makeup for the Bottega Veneta show in SS2013?)

I believe Pat McGrath did the makeup. xx

I looked it up, and yes, she did! Although I seriously doubt it was all Covergirl as the website I found suggested.
